SUMMER'S GLORIES IN FENNVILLE
AUGUST 2014 NEWS
Why does it seem like our wait for the summer season is 10 years and once it is finally here it seems to last 10 minutes? We hope you all found some time to spend with family and kick back and relax. If there’s one thing we could use more of, it’s time to slow down and enjoy the moment. We have had so much fun with our young energetic staff, some new and some old faces, talking with customers about their trips to and from 1,000 different places, all the time I’m reminded that this moment here will be gone and we will never have it again. We all feel blessed when we get to hear how our restaurant, or Crane’s U-pick and Crane Orchards, have played an integral role in your trip. If it’s a week’s stay by the lake or just a day trip to and from home, we truly thank you for including us in making the moment special. That really is what it’s all about.
The farm has never looked more beautiful. The fruit looks great and that means the pies will continue to be wonderful. The season began with cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and now, FINALLY, peaches. I had my first peach of the season this week and the wait was well worth it. Peaches will be sparse this year so be sure to call ahead to the orchards to check availability. Crane Orchards phone number is 269-561-8651 and Gary Crane farm’s is 269-561-5126. You can also check websites or social media. Be sure to follow Crane’s Pie Pantry on Twitter and Instagram to see photos and learn what new is happening.
Last month I revealed that we will be starting Crane’s Winery at the cider mill and we couldn't be more excited. We will be serving hard ciders and fruit wines with an emphasis on local fruit from our region. We expect to be up and running sometime in September barring any unforeseen obstacles. You will be able to sample at our tasting bar, buy wines and ciders by the glass at your table, and bring bottles and growlers home with you. Be on the lookout for our hard cider on draft and some of your favorite local restaurants. And if they don’t carry it, recommend it :) You can help us spread the word on what we believe will be some of the best cider Michigan has to offer!
We have some new locations carrying our delicious products in West Michigan, including a great store in Saugatuck, All That and a Bag of Chips. Specializing in Michigan made foods and unique gifts. This store in located on Water Street in the Dockside Marketplace. Also, The Blueberry Store in downtown South Haven will be carrying our pies, baked and frozen, along with many other great Michigan made blueberry products. Check the website for a full list of locations.
Our favorite time of year is right around the corner. So as summer turn to fall, days cool, and the leaves start to turn, remember us on those weekend trips. We can’t wait to help make your experience in our area that much more special.
Enjoy your July - See you all soon! to Crane’s to share a day with us!
