Blackberries are Ripe!
U-Picking is great & plentiful at $3.25 a pint.
We-Pick is available at $4.25 a pint.
Fall Red Raspberries are also availabe for U-Pick.
U-Pick is $3.25 a pint and We-Pick is $4.25 a pint
Sorry we will not have any Gold Raspberries
in 2013 due last years dry hot summer.

Apple Honey Pecan Cake

2 cups Flour
2 cups Sugar
2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 tsp. Salt

Combine ingredients in large bowl.

2 tsp. Vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1/2 cup Honey

Beat 4 above ingredients then add to dry ingredients.

3 Large Apples  peeled, cored and sliced thinly
2 cups Pecans  chopped coarsely

Stir in Apples & Pecans.

Bake in greased 9 inch Tube Pan at 350 degrees for 1 to 11/4 hours.
Test with toothpick in center for done.
Frost Cooled Cake with Whipped Cream Frosting.

Whipped Cream Frosting

5 T. Flour
1 cup Milk

Cook Flour in Milk until thick.  Cool.

1/2 lb. Butter or Margarine
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla

Beat butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add Cooled paste and beat until mixture resembles whipped cream.

+Fenn Valley winery is just 2 miles from J. Paule's Fenn Inn


What a difference a few weeks make! We are now right in the middle of the most critical time of year in the vineyards. The plants have shifted gears from growing bigger to ripening fruit. Some of the early white grapes are already starting to take on their individual varietal characteristics while just about every red grape has turned color. The hard work of weeding, pruning and canopy management has been replaced by patience as we let Mother Nature take it from here.
We also have fields and fields of gorgeous sunflowers on the farm. This wonderful addition has prompted all sorts of photo opportunities, and a host of questions. Doug wrote a short article explaining what it is all about on our blog.
Behind the scenes we have been very busy with several big efforts – including a new online store, our first ever trail run, our second Lunch with the Winemaker, Wine and Food Tours and more. And of course the cellar is busy preparing for the onslaught of Michigan grapes that is just around the corner! Make sure you come out to visit us during this extremely special time of year.

Another reminder to join us for the 1st ever Vine Wine’d Trail run. Guests will have a chance to run through our premium vineyards and surrounding farm during the height of the fall season. Not up for a 5K? We also have a 1 mile untimed “fun run.” Our farm manager has artfully carved a stunning USATF Sanctioned route.

Lunch with the Winemaker - September 7th
There are still a few spots left for our second Lunch with the Winemaker on Saturday, September 7th at 12:00PM. We had such a great experience at the first one in May we simply had to follow it up! This time we are going on a gastronomic journey to the romantic French Quarter of historic New Orleans.
In addition this lunch will celebrate the official release of Merlot 2012, one of the first red wines to come out of the epic 2012 growing season. The wine was pre-sold at our Pre-Release event in April, and only enough cases will be bottled to fulfill these orders plus a few cases that will be made available to Lunch with the Winemaker guests.
