young grapes

From the Editor
The June rain followed by sunny weather has the vineyards growing like crazy! Though we got off to a bit of a slow start, in terms of a 5-year average things are pretty much normal based on “Growing Degree Days.” Growing Degree Days are a measure of heat accumulation used by farmers to measure development in any given year. A normal year in Michigan means it will be a race against time to get the crop in before the damp, cold weather sets in for the winter.
While rain is generally problematic for grape growing, it has helped our newly planted baby vines get off to a great start. The 10.5 acres of new plants are doing great. Stay tuned to our blog and social media pages for continual updates on all the happenings in the vineyards.
